A revision to the absolute magnitudes of RR Lyrae stars from the Baade-Wesselink method.

FERNLEY J.

Abstract (from CDS):

It is argued that the zero-point from the recent Baade-Wesselink analyses of RR Lyrae stars is 0.07 mags too faint due to an inappropriate value of the p factor having been used (this factor corrects the observed pulsation velocity to the true pulsation velocity). Adopting this brighter zero-point brings the Baade-Wesselink calibration of the RR Lyrae Absolute Magnitude-Metallicity relation into closer agreement with theory and also the Baade-Wesselink RR Lyrae distance modulus to the Large Magellanic Cloud into closer agreement with other distance indicators.
