SIMBAD references

We report the discovery of a magnetic DA white dwarf within the Hamburg/ESO objective prism survey for bright quasars. The new magnetic DA HE 1045-0908 was found by automated search techniques and classified as QSO candidate. Subsequent spectroscopy with EFOSC at the ESO 3.6m telescope showed that H_α is a triplet, while H_β and H_γ are split in a distinctive way into several Zeeman components. A model atmosphere analysis yields T_eff= 9200 ±500 K, a polar field strength of 31 ±2 MG, and a dipole inclination of 5deg+15deg-5deg, i.e. a nearly equator-on view.
