Abstract (from CDS):

We report optical and radio observations of the double-lobed radio galaxy 3C20. The compact radio hot spot in the western lobe also emits optical synchrotron radiation and field polarimetry with a Savart plate shows it to be (49±7)% polarized. The eastern hot spot is not detected optically. New VLA observations at wavelengths of 6 and 2cm and with resolutions of 0.14" and 0.40" are also presented. A radio core is detected for the first time. We present spectral index maps for both hot spots and discuss their physics.
