Abstract (from CDS):

During nearly three years of operation, the COMPTEL instrument on the Compton Gamma Ray Oservatory has localized 17 cosmic γ-ray bursts in the energy range 0.75-30MeV with average localization accuracy ∼1.3deg. We report here the COMPTEL detection of two bursts (GRB 930704 and GRB 940301), occurring eight months apart, which are consistent with the same, well-defined location within 1σ uncertainties. Through Monte Carlo simulation, we show that the probability of this spatial coincidence being random is ∼3%. Interplanetary Network (IPN) localization of these events cannot rule out the possibility that they originate from a single source. Furthermore, when COMPTEL and IPN localizations are combined, we show that the random probability of two such overlapping bursts reduces to ∼1.5%. We discuss implications of this evidence of a possible repeating burst source.
