Abstract (from CDS):

The long homogeneous series of photoelectric observations of BYDra obtained at the Stephanion Observatory was combined with the rich observational material of the same star from the Byurakan, Konkoly and Matra Observatories for a systematic study of the flare activity of this star during the period 1971-1992. The following conclusions could be drawn : 1) The flare activity of the star shows a long-term fluctuation with a very pronounced maximum during the years 1973-1975 and a new enhancement of the activity from 1987 onwards. 2) The quiet-state luminosity of the star shows a similar long-term fluctuation, whereby the maximum of the luminosity coincides with that of flare activity 3) There is a clear tendency for the flares on BYDra to appear during a certain part of the period of the short-term periodic light variation of the star. The implementations of this phenomenon are being discussed.
