Abstract (from CDS):
Detailed studies of the light graph of W UMa show in the area of the minimum(I) a not expected stretch of a constant phase of ca. 20 minutes (within a range of ± 0.024 mag). The measurements were made with the help of CCD-equipment in the V-band with a frequency of ca. 1-2 minutes. A satisfactory explanation of this pehnomenon cannot be given so far.
