Hydrogen-deficient carbon star HM Lib.

KIPPER T.

Abstract (from CDS):

The high and medium resolution spectra of a nonvariable hydrogen-deficient carbon star (HdC) HM Lib were analyzed and the chemical composition derived. The atmospheric parameters of HM Lib are Teff = 6000±200 K, logg = 1.3±0.5 and the microturbulent velocity ξt = 6.8±1.0 km/s. The high hydrogen deficiency is confirmed. The abundances of other elements are close to those found for the majority of warmer and variable R CrB stars. The medium resolution spectrum of another HdC star HD 182040 is compared to that of HM Lib. In the spectrum of HD 182040 the CN red system bands are weaker due to 0.3 dex lower N abundance.
