Abstract (from CDS):

R. Arbour, South Wonston, U.K., reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (mag approximately 15.2) on an unfiltered CCD image taken with a 0.3-m f/6.3 Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector on Sept. 19.839 UT. The new object is located at R.A. = 12h03m18s.15, Decl. = +44o31'34".6 (equinox 2000.0), which is 91" east and 18".6 south of the center of NGC 4051. SN 2003ie is not present on Digitized Sky Survey blue (1990) or red (1996) plates. T. Boles, Coddenham, England, obtained confirming unfiltered CCD images (0.35-m reflector) of the new object (at mag 14.9) on Sept. 20.173 UT, measuring a position identical with that given above.
