Abstract (from CDS):
In recent years there has been massive interest in wide-field photometric surveys searching for planetary transits. I review the strategies employed by different teams and highlight the main causes of false detections. I present a summary of the information now available thanks to detailed study of the two known transiting systems. Finally, I discuss why more transiting planets have not been discovered to date and suggest ways to optimize the observations.
