Search for active galaxies using the first Byurakan survey.

MICKAELIAN A.M.

Abstract (from CDS):

The First Byurakan Survey (FBS) low-dispersion spectra allow selection of different types of objects by their SEDs and/or emission or absorption lines. This method is especially good for the search of AGNs. Markarian survey, the 2nd part of the FBS, optical identifications of IRAS sources, as well as cross-correlations of radio, IR, X-ray catalogs with optical data (APS and USNO) revealed a vast amount of new AGNs and their candidates. Spectroscopic observations for a number of them have confirmed their nature. The digitization of the FBS will make these works more efficient. It will be a unique observational database for search for new interesting objects, including AGNs.
