Abstract (from CDS):

SN 2005hc is of type Ia some 5 days before maximum light. Assuming the Sloan Digital Sky Survey recession velocity of 13770 km/s for the host galaxy, an expansion velocity of 9600 km/s is derived from the absorption minimum of the Si II 635.5-nm doublet.
