Abstract (from CDS):
SN 2005lu is a type-Ia supernova near maximum light. Assuming the recession velocity of 9650 km/s for the host galaxy (da Costa et al. 1998, A.J. 116, 1), an expansion velocity of 11800 km/s is derived from the absorption minimum of the Si II 635.5-nm doublet. A narrow interstellar Na I 589.3-nm absorption at the redshift of the host galaxy is detected with an equivalent width of 0.20 nm, suggesting significant dust reddening.
