Supernova 2005ee in PGC 73054.

MODJAZ M., KIRSHNER R., CHALLIS P. and MARTIMBEAU N.

Abstract (from CDS):

M. Modjaz, R. Kirshner, and P. Challis, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, report that a spectrogram (range 340-740 nm) of SN 2005ee (cf. IAUC 8603), obtained by N. Martimbeau on Sept. 25.32 UT with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST), shows it to be a type-II supernova. The spectrum consists of a flat continuum, a P-Cyg profile of H_alpha, and absorption troughs of H_beta and other lines. Adopting the recession velocity of 9730 km/s for the host galaxy, as measured from H_alpha emission of an H II region in the host galaxy, the supernova expansion velocity derived from the minimum of the H_beta line is about 11000 km/s.
