Supernova 2008as in ESO 567-G57.

BLONDIN S. and CHALLIS P.

Abstract (from CDS):

S. Blondin, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA), on behalf of the CfA Supernova Group, reports that a spectrogram (range 400-1000 nm) of 2008as, obtained by P. Challis on Mar. 1.24 UT with the Magellan Clay 6.5-m telescope (+ LDSS3), shows it to be a type-Ia supernova around one month past maximum light. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra, using the Supernova Identification code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024), indicates that 2008as is most similar to the type-Ia supernova 1996X at 32 days past maximum.
