Supernova 2008aa in UGC 7799.

SILVERMAN J.M., FILIPPENKO A.V. and BARTON E.J.

Abstract (from CDS):

J. M. Silverman and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, Berkeley; and E. J. Barton, University of California, Irvine, report that inspection of a CCD spectrum (range 320-940 nm), obtained on Mar. 3 UT with the Keck I 10-m telescope (+ LRIS), shows that 2008aa (CBET 1244) is a type-II supernova. The spectrum shows hydrogen Balmer lines having P-Cyg profiles. Removing a host-galaxy recession velocity of 6920 km/s, calculated from narrow emission lines, the minimum of the H-alpha absorption is blueshifted by about 5700 km/s.
