Abstract (from CDS):

J. M. Silverman, R. Mostardi, C. V. Griffith, R. Chornock, and A. V. Filippenko, UCB, report that inspection of CCD spectra (range 330-1000 nm), obtained on June 29 UT with the 3-m Shane reflector (+ Kast) at Lick Observatory, shows that 2008ct (CBET 1394) is probably a type-Ia supernova, 2-3 months after maximum brightness. SN 2008dq (CBET 1417) is a type-Ic supernova, similar to SN 1994I (Filippenko et al. 1995, Ap.J. 450, L11) about one week after maximum. SN 2008dr is a type-Ia supernova near maximum brightness; removing a host-galaxy recession velocity of 12426 km/s (Huchra et al. 1999, Ap.J. 121, 287), the minimum of the Si II 635.5-nm absorption feature is found to be blueshifted by about 15500 km/s. SN 2008ds is a peculiar type-Ia supernova similar to SN 1999aa (Garavini et al. 2004, A.J. 128, 387), roughly 1 week before maximum; removing a host-galaxy recession velocity of 6305 km/s (Falco et al. 1999, PASP 111, 438), the minimum of the Si II 635.5-nm absorption feature is found to be blueshifted by about 10600 km/s.
