2008 ED_69 and kappa cygnids.

JENNISKENS P. and VAUBAILLON J.

Abstract (from CDS):

P. Jenniskens, SETI Institute, suggests that the steeply inclined (i = 36.3 deg) and intrinsically bright (H = 16.7) minor planet 2008 ED_69 (cf. MPECs 2008-E105, 2008-F11) is likely a fragment that remained after formation of the kappa Cygnids (IAU shower 12), known from its common bright meteors seen in August. J. Vaubaillon (California Institute of Technology) has developed a meteoroid-stream model with ejecting dust in 4000 BC, 2000 BC, and 1 AD from the backward-integrated 38-day orbit of 2008 ED_69, demonstrating that the dispersion of particles in earth orbit is in good agreement with observations if the stream was formed around 4000-1600 BC (Jenniskens and Vaubaillon 2008, A.J. 136, 725).
