SIMBAD references

J. L. Prieto, Ohio State University, reports that optical spectra (range 410-750 nm; FWHM resolution 0.5 nm) of supernovae 2008gm and 2008go were obtained with the Hiltner 2.4-m telescope (+ Modspec) at MDM Observatory on Oct. 24.2 UT. The spectrum of 2008gm (CBET 1549) is characteristic of a type-IIn supernova, and not a type-Ib/c event (as suggested on CBET 1551), showing a blue continuum with Balmer lines in emission with multiple components superimposed; the H_alpha and H_beta line profiles are both well-fitted by the sum of two Gaussian components with FWHM of 300 and 1600 km/s.
