Abstract (from CDS):
A. J. Drake, S. G. Djorgovski, R. Williams, A. Mahabal, and M. J. Graham, California Institute of Technology; M. Catelan, Pontificia Universidad Catolica; E. C. Beshore, S. M. Larson, A. Boattini, and A. Gibbs, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, University of Arizona; and E. Christensen, Gemini Observatory, report the Catalina Real-time Transient Survey discovery of two apparent supernovae in unfiltered Catalina Sky Survey (CSS) images: ----------------------------------------------------------------------— SN 2009 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Offset ----------------------------------------------------------------------— 2009ak Feb. 14.39 10 25 03.36 +17 58 21.3 19.4 26" E, 17" W 2009al Feb. 26.32 10 51 22.07 + 8 34 42.7 16.8 51" W, 41" N ----------------------------------------------------------------------— The discovery images of 2009ak were evidently taken by A. Boattini, while those for 2009al were evidently taken by A. Gibbs. Further magnitudes for 2009ak: 2008 Dec. 30.46 UT, [20.6 (CSS); 2009 Feb. 5.26, 19.6 (CSS); 19.54, 20.0 (Palomar 1.52-m reflector + Gunn g filter), 20.1 (Gunn i filter). The apparent host galaxy for 2009ak, SDSS J102501.54+175804.0, has Gunn magnitudes u = 18.9, g = 17.0, r = 15.9, i = 15.5, z = 15.1, and redshift z = 0.12.
