Abstract (from CDS):
T. N. Steele, C. V. Griffith, I. K. W. Kleiser, and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of a CCD spectrum (range 340-1020 nm), obtained on Nov. 25 UT with the 3-m Shane reflector (+ Kast) at Lick Observatory, shows that SN 2009lv (CBET 2045) is a normal type-Ia supernova shortly after maximum light; cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "SuperNova IDentification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that it is most similar to SN 1994ae at about three days past maximum. SN 2009lr (CBET 2040) is a type-Ia supernova a few days prior to maximum light; it most closely resembles supernova-1999aa-like objects (Li et al. 2001, Ap.J. 546, 734; Garavini et al. 2004, A.J. 128, 387). SN 2009lt (CBET 2043) is a normal type-Ia supernova about one month past maximum light; cross-correlation with SNID indicates that it is most similar to SN 1994M at 34 days past maximum. SN 2009ls is a young type-II supernova, with a very blue continuum but clear P-Cyg profiles of hydrogen Balmer lines. SN 2009lu (CBET 2044) is a probable supernova, showing some broad undulations, but the signal-to-noise ratio is too low for a secure classification.
