Abstract (from CDS):

Hornoch and O. Pejcha, Department of Astronomy, Ohio State University, report low-resolution optical spectroscopy (range 380-720 nm, resolution 0.7 nm) and optical photometry of M31N 2009-11c. Spectra were obtained using the Boller & Chivens CCD Spectrograph on the 2.4-m Hiltner telescope at MDM Observatory. Magnitude measurements were obtained from images taken with RETROCAM on the 2.4-m Hiltner telescope and with the 0.65-m telescope (+ G2CCD-3200) at Ondrejov. A spectrogram of M31N 2009-11c, taken by Pejcha on Nov. 21.27 UT (15.4 days after its first optical detection made by Hornoch) shows Fe II and Balmer emission lines with HWZI of about 1500 km/s, suggesting that it is a "Fe II"-class nova close to maximum. The following additional R-band magnitudes were obtained: Nov. 13.036, 17.03 ± 0.10 (Hornoch); 18.924, 17.8 ± 0.15 (Hornoch and P. Zasche); 21.816, 17.9 ± 0.1 (Hornoch and P. Kusnirak); 23.042, 17.9 ± 0.1 (Hornoch). Sloan magnitudes for 2009-11c by Pejcha and Hornoch (2.4-m telescope): Nov. 21.256, g' = 18.86 ± 0.08; 21.259, r' = 18.32 ± 0.05.
