K. Nishiyama, Kurume, Fukuoka-ken, Japan; and F. Kabashima, Miyaki-cho, Saga-ken, Japan, report mag 8.5 and position R.A. = 18:07:26.95, Decl. = -29:00:43.6 (equinox 2000.0) for the nova from five 5-s unfiltered CCD frames (limiting magnitude 15.0) taken around Jan. 23.892 UT using a Meade 200R 0.40-m f/9.8 reflector (+ SBIG STL1001E camera).
