Abstract (from CDS):
M. Stritzinger and M. M. Phillips, Las Campanas Observatory (LCO); G. Folatelli, Universidad de Chile; and R. J. Foley, Center for Astrophysics, report that they obtained additional spectra of SN 2010ae (cf. CBET 2184) with the Very Large Telescope (+ XShooter) on Feb. 24.1 UT, and with the Gemini South telescope (+ GMOS) on Feb. 25.1, 26.1, 27.1, 28.1, and Mar. 1.1. Inspection of the full spectral series indicates that SN 2010ae is most similar to the low-luminosity supernova 2008ha near maximum brightness (Foley et al. 2010, Ap.J. 708, L61). The evolution of the spectral energy distribution is also similar to that of SN 2008ha. Adopting a recession velocity of 1098 km/s (H I Parkes All-Sky Survey Final Catalog; Wong et al. 2006, MNRAS 371, 1855) for the host galaxy, the blue-shift of the Si II feature (rest 635.5 nm) has evolved from approximately 4600 km/s on Feb. 23.1 to 3400 km/s on Mar. 1.1. Similarly, during the same time period, C II (rest 658.0 nm) evolved from 4300 to 2900 km/s.
