Abstract (from CDS):
CCD spectra (range 350-900 nm) of 2010ib were obtained on Aug. 6 UT with the Gemini Multi-Object Spectrograph mounted on the 8-m Gemini South telescope. Matches to template spectra using "Superfit" indicate that 2010ib is a type-II supernova with strong P-Cyg profiles clearly visible in the Balmer series. Using superimposed narrow emission lines, a redshift of z = 0.0187 was measured for the presumed host galaxy, consistent with archival (NED) values for the nearby Minkowski object.
