Abstract (from CDS):
D. Milisavljevic and R. Fesen, Dartmouth College, report that a low-dispersion optical spectrum (range 440-770 nm) of 2010ip (cf. CBET 2491) was obtained with the 2.4-m Hiltner telescope (+ Mark III) at MDM Observatory on Oct. 12.4 UT. Comparison with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" tool (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) suggests a normal type-Ia event around maximum light at redshift z = 0.052.
