Supernova 2011by in NGC 3972 = PSN J11554551+5519320.

MARION G.H., OHSHIMA Y. and BERLIND P.

Abstract (from CDS):

G. H. Marion, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA), on behalf of the CfA Supernova Group, reports that an object posted on the Central Bureau's TOCP webpage (and there designated PSN J11554551+5519320 when reported as a discovery by Y. Ohshima on Nov. 25, long after the object originally designated PSN J11554556+5519338 had been announced as SN 2011by on CBET 2708) was observed spectroscopically on Nov. 26 UT by P. Berlind with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST). The spectrum (range 340-740 nm) was compared via cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024), revealing that the object is a type-Ia supernova about six months after maximum light, which is consistent with the age of SN 2011by.
