Determination of the Abundance of Mercury from the Hg II Line at 5677.10 Å in Late B-type Stars. XIV. HD 172044.

MONIER R.

Abstract (from CDS):

The weak line of Hg II located at 5677.10 Å is clearly detected in NARVAL I profiles of the HgMn star HD 172044. Spectrum synthesis shows that this line is properly reproduced by a mercury excess of about +5.95 dex, which also reproduces the profile of the commonly used Hg II line at 3983.93 Å. The synthesis of various spectral intervals also yields several new measurements of the abundances of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, magnesium, aluminium, silicon, manganese, iron, and gallium. Most of these new measurements agree well with previous determinations.
