High Radio Frequency Pulsar Search of the Galactic Center.

KIMANI-STEWART K., McLAUGHLIN M.A. and FIORE W.

Abstract (from CDS):

We have conducted a Galactic Center (GC) search with the 100 m Green Bank Telescope at a central frequency of 9.2 GHz, accumulating ten hours of observations, for pulsars and other emitters of single radio pulses. The high radio frequency was used to minimize the propagation effects of the interstellar medium. We observed ten pointings of the inner 0.07 square degrees of the region, which has a high stellar density, making it a good target for pulsar searches, particularly for those residing in exotic binary systems. We conducted periodicity and single-pulse searches at trial dispersion measures ranging from zero to 3000 pc cm–3. While we do not report the discovery of new pulsars or short-duration transients like fast radio bursts, we detected the GC magnetar, PSR J1745-2900, and present sensitive single-pulse observations of this source. We also present, for the first time, a detection of PSR B1742-30 at 9.2 GHz.
