BOLES T. and SCHWARTZ M.

Abstract (from CDS):

Further to IAUC 8009, T. Boles reports the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 18.0) on an unfiltered CCD image taken on Dec. 9.767 UT with a 0.35-m reflector. The new object is located at R.A. = 20h11m59s.91, Decl. = +5 31'16".0, which is approximately 10".0 west and 11".5 north of the center of UGC 11523. M. Schwartz, Cottage Grove, OR, confirmed the new object with the 0.82-m Tenagra telescope on Dec. 11.073. Boles measured position end figures 59s.94, 15".6 from Schwartz' image. SN 2002jn is not present on Boles' images from Oct. 18 (limiting mag 18.5) or Sept. 28 (limiting mag 19.0), and it is not present on Palomar Sky Survey red and blue plates from 1990 or on a Quick-V survey plate from 1982.
