Supernova 2003ih in UGC 2836.

ARMSTRONG M. and LI W.

Abstract (from CDS):

Further to IAUC 8200, M. Armstrong reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 18.1) on unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag about 20-21) taken on Sept. 15.04, 21.04, and 23.16 UT; Armstrong's position for the new object is R.A. = 3h43m57s.72, Decl. = +39o17'43".9 (equinox 2000.0), or 4" east and 1" north of the center of UGC 2836. Armstrong adds that nothing is present at this location on Palomar Sky Survey images. W. Li notes that KAIT images show a faint new object (mag about 19.7) on Sept. 19.5, located at position end figures 57s.72, 43".2 (or 9".4 east and 1".0 north of the galaxy nucleus). Nothing is visible at this location on KAIT images taken on Feb. 2.1 (limiting mag about 20.5) or Sept. 8.5 (limiting mag about 19.5). SN 2001I also appeared in this galaxy (cf. IAUC 7563).
