Super-eddington winds of novae and other objects.

FRIEDJUNG M.

Abstract (from CDS):

The presence and physics of stellar winds, accelerated by radiation pressure in the continuum, is discussed for several types of objects, especially for classical novae. A luminosity above the Eddington limit is required for wind driving. This type of wind can be produced easily by a local rise in continuum opacity just after the critical point of the wind. It is possible to have other mechanisms, when the opacity does not rise above that due to Thomson scattering. Moreover, observational evidence exists indicating the reality of super-Eddington winds.
