Abstract (from CDS):

T. Matheson, P. Challis, and R. Kirshner, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, report that a spectrum (range 340-730 nm) of SN 2004ct (cf. IAUC 8361), obtained by M. Calkins on July 22.28 UT with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST), shows it to be a type-Ia supernova several weeks past maximum. A spectrogram of SN 2004dh (cf. IAUC 8375), obtained by Calkins on July 23.44, shows it to be a type-II supernova. The spectrum consists of a blue continuum with P-Cyg lines of hydrogen. Adopting the NED recession velocity of 5794 km/s for the host galaxy, the expansion velocity derived from the minimum of the H_beta line is 9500 km/s.
