Abstract (from CDS):

R. J. Foley and A. V. Filippenko, University of California at Berkeley; and T. Matheson, National Optical Astronomy Observatory, report that inspection of CCD spectra (range 470-990 nm), obtained on Oct. 6 UT with the Keck II 10-m telescope (+ DEIMOS), shows that SN 2005dy (IAUC 8598) and SN 2005eb (IAUC 8602) are both of type II. Spectra of SN 2005eu (IAUC 8611) reveal it to be a very young type-Ia supernova, at least a week before maximum brightness; a reasonable match is found with SN 2001V at 12 days before maximum. Assuming a recession velocity of 10290 km/s (from narrow emission lines in a superposed H II region), an expansion velocity of 11500 km/s is found for the minimum of the Si II 635.5-nm absorption line.
