Further to IAUC 8610, T. Puckett and D. George report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 18.5) on an unfiltered CCD frame taken with the 0.60-m automated supernova patrol telescope on Oct. 4.31 UT. The new object was confirmed (also at mag 18.5) on CCD frames taken on Oct. 9.19. SN 2005gk is located at R.A. = 3h08m16s.05, Decl. = -4o12'00".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is 5".5 east and 3".5 north of the center of the apparent host galaxy. Nothing is present at this location on images taken by Puckett on 2004 Oct. 13 and 27 (limiting mag about 20.0).
