Also, SNIFS spectra (range 320-1000 nm) of supernovae 2006aq in MCG +07-24-32 and 2006ar in MCG +11-13-36 (cf. IAUC 8684) were obtained on Mar. 7.6 and 7.5 UT, respectively. SN 2006aq is of type II and SN 2006ar is of type Ia. The spectrum of SN 2006aq is similar to that of the type-IIb supernova 1993J at an approximate redshift of z = 0.05; 2006aq appears to have faded rapidly relative to the reported discovery magnitude. SN 2006ar is before or near maximum, with a continuum somewhat redder than normally observed in type-Ia supernovae at this phase.
