SEHGAL A., NEWTON J., ORFF T. and PUCKETT T.

Abstract (from CDS):

Further to IAUC 8758, A. Sehgal, J. Newton, and T. Orff report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 18.9) on a CCD image (limiting mag 20.1) taken with a 0.50-m reflector at Osoyoos, BC, on Aug. 5.35 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search. The new object was confirmed at mag 18.8 on an image (limiting mag 19.5) taken on Aug. 6.23 by A. Sehgal. SN 2007gk is located at R.A. = 16h45m18s.22, Decl. = +67o55'50".0 (equinox 2000.0), which is 9".4 east and 26".5 south of the center of MCG +11-20-27. Nothing is visible at this location on combined images taken by T. Puckett over an 8-year period (limiting mag 21.6) or on an image taken by Sehgal on 2005 Sept. 24 (limiting mag 19.8).
