Abstract (from CDS):

SN 2008ei (CBET 1446) is also a type-Ia supernova. Cross-correlation with a library of type-Ia-supernova templates using the SNID code (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) gives a best-fit age for 2008ei of 2.1 ± 4.5 days before maximum brightness; removing a host-galaxy recession velocity of 11284 km/s (de Vaucouleurs et al. 1991, Third Reference Catalogue of Bright Galaxies), the minimum of the Si II 635.5-nm absorption feature is found to be blueshifted by about 15300 km/s.
