High-resolution spectroscopy of the metal-poor star HD187216.

BARZDIS A., ZACS L. and GALAZUTDINOV G.

Abstract (from CDS):

Abundance analysis of the metal-poor, carbon-rich giant HD187216 using high-resolution (R≃45000) spectrum was performed. An LTE abundance analysis was done for carefully selected clean atomic lines, using the Uppsala atmospheric model with Teff = 4000 K, logg = 0.75, ξt = 2.8 kms–1 and [Z] = -2.0. The mean metallicity [Fe/H] = -1.7 derived by using singly ionized iron lines is much higher than previously believed. It seems likely that FeI lines, like many other neutral atomic lines, suffer from non-LTE effects that are significant at low metallicity and gravity. The abundances of the neutron capture elements are found to be enhanced by about 1.3 dex relative to the iron group elements. Possible causes of chemical peculiarities of HD187216 are discussed.
