Supernova 2009N in NGC 4487.
CHALLIS P. and BERLIND P.
Abstract (from CDS):
P. Challis, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA), on behalf of the CfA Supernova Group, reports that a spectrum (range 320-850 nm) of 2009N (cf. CBET 1670), obtained on Jan. 25 UT by P. Berlind with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST), shows it to be a type-II supernova. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that the spectrum of 2009N best matches the spectrum of the type-IIP supernova 2005cs at two days after maximum light.
