Abstract (from CDS):

J. M. Silverman, I. K. W. Kleiser, C. V. Griffith, A. J. L. Morton, and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of a low-quality CCD spectrum (range 340-1010 nm), obtained on Oct. 21 UT with the 3-m Shane reflector (+ Kast) at Lick Observatory, shows that 2009jp (CBET 1962) is probably a normal type-Ia supernova. After removal of the host-galaxy recession velocity of 16510 km/s (determined from narrow emission features), the absorption minimum of the Si II 635.5-nm line is found to be blueshifted by about 10900 km/s; cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "SuperNova IDentification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that 2009jp is about two weeks past maximum light. A spectrum of 2009jv (CBET 1977) shows it to be a supernova, possibly of type IIb; SNID indicates that it is most like the type-IIb supernova 1993J about 24 days past maximum light. SN 2009jw (CBET 1978) is a type-II supernova; after removal of the host-galaxy recession velocity of 5880 km/s (determined from narrow emission features), the absorption minimum of the H-alpha feature is blueshifted by about 5000 km/s.
