Koichi Nishiyama, Kurume, Fukuoka-ken, Japan; and Fujio Kabashima, Miyaki-cho, Saga-ken, Japan, report their independent discovery of M31N 2010-02a at mag 16.4 on seven 40-s unfiltered CCD frames (limiting magnitude 18.7) taken around Feb. 28.426 UT using a Meade 200R 0.40-m f/9.8 reflector (+ SBIG STL1001E camera), providing position end figures 36s.82, 29".4 (and offset 85" west and 39" south from the center of the galaxy), adding that nothing is visible at this position on their past frames taken on Feb 21.433 and 23.432 (limiting magnitude 18.8) or on Digitized Sky Survey red and infrared plates.
