2011ATel.3303....1G - The Astronomer's Telegram, 3303, 1 (2011/April-0)
PTF weekly SN discovery report, April 22, 2011.
GAL-YAM A., NUGENT P. and BLOOM J.
Abstract (from CDS):
PTF11cda was discovered by autonomous PTF software on March 31, 2011 UT
at RA(J2000) = 17:16:56.22 and DEC(J2000) = +31:55:27.9 at a magnitude
of 18.8 in R-band (calibrated with respect to the USNOB1 catalog). The
SN is not detected in previous PTF images from March 15 and 18 down to a 3-sigma limit of R=20 mag. A spectrum was obtained using the SNIFS spectrograph on the 2.2-m UH telescope on April. 15 UT, revealing
the supernova to be of type II at z=0.042.
PTF11byi was discovered by autonomous PTF software on April 12, 2011 UT
at RA(J2000) = 12:21:45.15 and DEC(J2000) = +12:15:25.6 at a magnitude
of 18.0 in R-band (calibrated with respect to the USNOB1 catalog). The
SN is not detected in previous PTF images from April 11 down to a 3-sigma limit of R=21 mag. A spectrum was obtained using the SNIFS spectrograph on the 2.2-m UH telescope on April. 18 UT, revealing
the supernova to be an underluminous (SN1991bg-like) type Ia at z=0.039
approximately 3 days after peak magnitude.
PTF11bup was discovered by autonomous PTF software on April 2, 2011 UT
at RA(J2000) = 09:46:43.74 and DEC(J2000) = +21:35:20.1 at a magnitude
of 19.6 in g-band (calibrated with respect to the USNOB1 catalog). The
SN is not detected in previous PTF images from March 2011 down to a 3-sigma limit of g=20.5 mag. A spectrum was obtained using the SNIFS spectrograph on the 2.2-m UH telescope on April. 18 UT, revealing
the supernova to be a type Ia at z=0.089 approximately 6 days after peak magnitude.
SNIFS (The SuperNova Integral Field Spectrograph) on the University of
Hawaii 2.2-m telescope is part of the Nearby Supernova Factory II project, scientific collaboration between the Centre de Recherche Astronomique de
Lyon, Institut de Physique Nucl'eaire de Lyon, Laboratoire de Physique
Nucl'eaire et des Hautes Energies, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory,
Yale University, University of Bonn, Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics,
Tsinghua Center for Astrophysics, and the Centre de Physique des Particules
de Marseille.
