J. M. Silverman, S. B. Cenko, and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of a CCD spectrum (range 330-1000 nm), obtained on Mar. 9 UT with the 10-m Keck I telescope (+ LRIS), shows that PSN J02424814+2834258 = 2011aq is a type-II supernova with well-developed P-Cyg line profiles. The spectrum is consistent with an age of about 1.5 months, derived from the discovery and prediscovery images. After removal of the host-galaxy recession velocity of 1550 km/s (measured from narrow host- galaxy emission lines), they find the absorption minimum of the H-alpha line to be blueshifted by about 5300 km/s.
