D. K. Sahu, G. C. Anupama, and S. Arora, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore, report that PSN J12535343+3605193 = 2011az is a young type-IIP supernova. A medium-resolution spectrum (wavelength range 350-920 nm) of 2011az, obtained on Mar. 21.93 UT with the Himalayan Chandra Telescope (+ HFOSC) at the Indian Astronomical Observatory, exhibits a blue continuum with a broad H_alpha line. Using the SNID code (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024), the spectrum of 2011az is found to be most similar to that of SN 1999em around 1.0 day before maximum. The H-alpha absorption indicates an expansion velocity of about 12000 km/s, corrected for the host galaxy's redshift, estimated as z = 0.014 from the shift of the narrow Balmer emission lines in the spectrum.
