Abstract (from CDS):
N. Morrell, Las Campanas Observatory, on behalf of the Carnegie Supernova Project, reports that optical spectroscopy (range 430-1000 nm), obtained on 2012 Jan. 16 UT with the 6.5-m Magellan I (Baade) telescope (+ IMACS), shows that PSN J14211421-3613107 = SN 2012R is an evolved type-II supernova. SNID (Blondin and Tonry, 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) gives good matches with a number of type-II-P events between 1 and 2 months after maximum.
