Abstract (from CDS):

Ryosuke Itoh, Koji S. Kawabata, Katsutoshi Takaki, Issei Ueno, and Hiroshi Akitaya, Hiroshima University; Masaomi Tanaka, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan; Tomoki Morokuma, Institute of Astronomy, University of Tokyo; and Nozomu Tominaga and Kensho Mori, Konan University, report that a low-resolution optical spectrum (range 450-900 nm) of 2012cm was obtained on May 17.5 UT with HOWPol on the 1.5-m Kanata telescope at Higashi-Hiroshima Observatory. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra via the SNID code (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) shows a best fit with several normal type-Ia supernovae before maximum, showing clear Si II, S II, and Fe III features.
