Empirical Relationship between Calcium Triplet Equivalent Widths and [Fe/H] Using Gaia Photometry.

Abstract (from CDS):

I present a new empirical calibration, using Gaia photometry, of the relationship between the metallicity of red giant branch (RGB) stars and the equivalent widths of their Ca II triplet lines. The equivalent widths are taken from a spectral library of 2050 RGB stars from 18 globular clusters observed with the Anglo-Australian Telescope's AAOmega spectrograph between 2006 and 2017. The stars cover a metallicity range of $-0.49\gt [\mathrm{Fe}/{\rm{H}}]\gt -2.27$.
