The Infrared Spectrum of the Stellar Merger V1309 Scorpii One Month After Outburst.

RUDY R.J., RUSSELL R.W., LYNCH D.K. and SITKO M.L.

Abstract (from CDS):

An infrared spectrum from 0.8 to 5.1 μm is presented for the stellar merger V1309 Scorpii (Nova Scorpii 2008) from 32 days after discovery and 28 days after maximum light. The spectrum resembles a late-type M-supergiant in its overall shape and the presence of strong molecular absorptions from CO, H2O, TiO, and VO but differs with the addition of H I and He I emission lines and prominent emission from Ca II. It is similar to stellar merger V838 Monocerotis (Nova Mon 2002) in displaying several emission lines of Ti I and weak absorption lines of Sr II but differs by producing He I emission.
