Infrared Spectroscopy of the Nova V5115 Sagittarii during Its Fe II Phase.

RUDY R.J., RUSSELL R.W. and LYNCH D.K.

Abstract (from CDS):

V5115 Sagittarii was a very fast nova (t2 = 7 days) from a massive white dwarf (1.2 M⊙). Our 0.8-5.0 μm spectrum from 19 days after discovery shows numerous Fe II lines and weak, just emerging He I emission and falls clearly within the Fe II-type nova classification. At this epoch, the nova had sufficient excitation that N I features were plentiful but Na I emission was absent and only the brightest C I features were detectable.
