Optically Thin Models and Radiative Transfer Models of AGB Stars.

SMITH C.J., SARGENT B.A. and SPECK A.K.

Abstract (from CDS):

Asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars are evolved stars that eject large amounts of dust. Here, we present emission models of circumstellar dust shells around two oxygen-rich AGB stars-RX Boo and HT Aqr-and one S star, Y Lyn. These models suggest that corundum is the most likely cause of the 13 μm feature and that other alumina polymorphs may contribute to the 11, 20, 28, and 32 μm features.
